Description for Gite

Les Caselles: A Farmhouse on the Causse - Embracing Sustainable and Quality Tourism

Discover the rich history and sustainable charm of our farmhouse, Les Caselles. Dating back to the 17th century, this authentic Aveyron building is nestled in the heart of the Grands Causses Natural Park, benefiting from the expertise of the renowned builders of nearby Saint-Beauzely.

Located near Millau, the Gorges du Tarn, and the Larzac plateau, Saint-Beauzely is the birthplace of the builders of the Templar and Hospital cities' fortifications. This picturesque hamlet of Azinières was once a thriving Causses farm that contributed to the fame of Roquefort cheese. Today, it stands as a testament to the heritage and exceptional flora of the Causse Rouge.

In the year 2000, a visionary buyer embarked on an extraordinary renovation project, with the initial aim of creating a farmhouse inn to bring our tourist project to life. Thus, "Les Caselles" was born, delighting the first travelers who discovered its unique charm.

Fast forward to today, Mikaël and Alizée Pélégry, the current owners, have made the bold decision to revolutionize their lives. Their mission: to provide quality and ecological transition for sustainable and responsible tourism.

Mikaël, a former director of a Parisian theater, found his priorities reshaped after major events in the performing arts industry in 2015. The recent birth of his daughter further fueled his desire to create a unique living environment, prompting him to leave his professional life behind and settle in Aveyron, the birthplace of his family.

Driven by environmental challenges, Mikaël and Alizée set themselves the ambitious goal of transforming this old farmhouse into an eco-friendly, low-energy home. With the help of local experts, the farmhouse now houses five top-of-the-range guest rooms, a charming gite, and various communal and private areas, all with energy consumption comparable to a single-family home.

Proudly offering high-performance, eco-responsible equipment, Les Caselles aims to make their guests feel less guilty and more responsible during their stay. From small everyday gestures to major renovations, sustainability is at the forefront of their daily operations. They have upgraded their heating system, switched to LED lighting, utilized rainwater, installed solar panels, and even added a charging point for electric vehicles. Every action taken reflects their commitment to sustainable and responsible tourism.

The table d'hôtes, or communal dining, also adheres to their principles. They prioritize short circuits, using fresh, local, and high-quality products that allow guests to discover the richness of our Aveyron region and support local producers.

Above all, Mikaël and Alizée strive to offer visitors a remarkable experience, sharing the warmth and authenticity of a true Aveyron house. Their dedication to friendliness and quality sets Les Caselles apart, positioning it as one of the finest guesthouses in the region.

This "slow tourism" project aims to attract visitors to Aveyron for picturesque, active, and environmentally conscious holidays. Join us at Les Caselles and experience the beauty and sustainability of our beloved region.
