Description for B&B:

The Castle of Ferns, built in 1860 by a Parisian industrialist on the heights of Trouville, offers a commanding view of the entire Côte Fleurie and Deauville. Originally an elegant seaside villa adorned with an exotic winter garden, the castle underwent significant expansions and renovations in the 1920s, transforming it into the grand structure it is today.

Over the years, the estate was divided, with the farm and a large portion of its farmland being separated from the castle. However, the remaining ensemble, comprising the castle and its various outbuildings, now sits on a picturesque 5-hectare park.

During World War II, the Castle of Ferns was occupied by the German army. It later served as an annex for religious purposes, providing refuge for the city of Caen after it suffered extensive destruction. It was also utilized as a summer camp and eventually a convalescent home.

Unfortunately, the castle fell victim to the economic crisis of the 1990s and remained abandoned and sealed off until it was purchased by an individual in 1997. Extensive restoration efforts were undertaken to erase the painful memories of its past and recapture the essence of its former glory.

Now, the property has been saved and is open to guests and friends who can appreciate the enchanting allure of this "sleeping beauty." The passionate owners take great joy in sharing the castle's charms and its revived spirit with visitors.
