Description:

Description for B&B:

Les Eaux Tranquilles is located at the northern end of the breathtaking Gorge la Pierre-Lys, which has recently been designated as an area of exceptional natural beauty. Situated 320 meters above sea level, our property is on the outskirts of the charming village of Belvianes et Cavirac, positioned 200 meters below the winter snow line. This makes us an ideal destination for both summer and winter getaways. We are conveniently situated between the cities of Carcassonne and Perpignan, just a 40-minute and 50-minute drive away respectively. Both cities have airports serving the UK, Belgium, and Ireland.

We have made it our mission to create a welcoming and friendly environment where guests can unwind from the stresses of everyday life. Our private park offers a sanctuary by the river, allowing guests to relax on our terrace with a bottle of wine while enjoying the soothing sound of the Aude River in the background.

During the summer, we frequently host barbeques on the terrace, providing an opportunity for our friends and guests to socialize and immerse themselves in the delightful ambiance of the Pyrenees mountains.

The nearest town to us is Quillan, located 4km to the north on the D117 road. It offers a variety of restaurants, bars, shops, banks, a railway station with connections to the main line station at Carcassonne and onwards to the rest of Europe, a coach station with links to Carcassonne and Perpignan, a tourist office open year-round, and a main post office. In the summer, the town hosts numerous outdoor concerts in its two squares, as well as an international folk festival that visits for two weeks in July. Belvianes also enjoys its own three-day festival with live music and entertainment. Vineyards and wine caves are plentiful in the area, providing opportunities to taste and purchase local wines. A short drive away is the town of Limoux, famous for producing Blanquette, France's first sparkling wine, predating champagne.

The ancient Cité of Carcassonne, with its magnificent spires that inspired Walt Disney for the film Sleeping Beauty, is a mere 50-minute drive from our property. In July, the Cité becomes the centerpiece of a spectacular fireworks show that attracts visitors from all over the world.

Our grounds consist of a large 0.75-hectare (2-acre) private park, bordered by the Aude River that originates in the Pyrenees and flows down to the sea at Narbonne, an hour and a half away. The river is abundant with trout and salmon and was visited by Robert Redford, who stayed nearby a few years ago. Inspired by the Aude River's relentless journey to the sea, he felt compelled to translate the book "And a River Ran Through It" into a world-famous film of the same name, which he directed. Additionally, every other year, the Tour de France passes at the top of our road.

Just a short three-minute walk from us is our local Auberge, which offers reasonably priced meals with outdoor seating during the summer. It is an ideal spot to sit, eat, drink, and watch the Tour de France.

There are several picturesque lakes nearby where you can swim or have a picnic. Being in the South of France, we are within an easy hour and a half's drive of the stunning Mediterranean beaches, known for their long sandy shores without the high-rise hotels typically found in Spanish resorts. Take a coastal drive to Spain and visit the charming French fishing villages nestled in the small bays. You can even bring back some fresh fish from the boats and cook it on our barbecue in the evening, accompanied by an excellent bottle of Languedoc Roussillon wine.

It may sound idyllic, and it truly is. That's why we chose to live here. We are committed to ensuring that your stay with us, whether it's for one night or two weeks, is as enjoyable as possible. We take pride in offering the highest level of customer service, always willing to go above and beyond to accommodate our guests. But don't just take our word for it – feel free to read the comments from our previous guests to see what they have to say.

We welcome guests from all nationalities and provide secure parking within our grounds, including a secure garage for touring motorcycles and cyclists, who are always welcome.

Appréciations pour Les Eaux Tranquilles, Belvianes et Cavirac:

séjour d'une semaine aux Eaux Tranquilles
Review by: Michelle et Philippe Delaporte , Juil 31 2017 4:50PM
Accueil très aimable de Monsieur Kenway. Chambres très calmes et agréables avec literie de bonne qualité. Service efficace. Bons petits-déjeuners et dîners. Beau parc paysagé en bordure de l' Aude.

Directions

Directions from the north:
If you are driving all the way, take the Autoroute A61 to Carcassonne and take exit Junction 23. Follow the signs to Limoux, which will be on road D118.

If you are coming from the airport, turn left out of the airport, but since it's not allowed, turn right instead. Go up to the roundabout and turn back. Just past the airport on your left, there will be a right turn with a sign to Limoux. Follow the signs to Limoux, and you will pass Junction 23 of the Autoroute along the way.

Continue driving straight through Limoux in the direction of Quillan on road D118. When you reach the first set of traffic lights in Quillan, you will be 4km away from our B&B. Drive straight through the lights, and the road number will change to D117 (though you may not notice). At the second set of lights, drive straight on. After about 2km, you will see a big panel on the right with the name Les Eaux Tranquilles written on it. Keep going, and you will pass an Auberge (Auberge du Chalet) on the right. Our B&B is the next left turn, clearly signposted on the corner with Les Eaux Tranquilles.

Directions from the south:
Unfortunately, we cannot put up any signposts in this area due to its outstanding natural beauty. So, you must drive down road D117 to Axat. At the roundabout in Axat, which has life-size sculptures of local bears, go straight over and enter the gorge. Drive cautiously and stay at or below 50kph, as there are sharp bends. As you exit the gorge, there will be a large car park to the right, followed by a staggered crossroads marked Cavirac to the right and Belvianes to the left. Continue for about 50 meters and then turn right, where there are signs with Les Eaux Tranquilles on the corner.

If you get lost or encounter any problems, feel free to call us.
