Idiartekoborda is a charming farm house that dates back to the seventeenth century. It was converted from an old barn in 1832 and underwent a renovation in 2004. The spacious bedrooms feature exposed beams and stone, and each room comes with a private bathroom. Guests can enjoy the tranquility of the surroundings and take in the magnificent view of the Basque mountains. The view stretches from the famous Mont Hautza to the walls of Iparla.Sandrine, the host, prepares excellent breakfasts using locally sourced ingredients. Her husband, Jean-Paul, is a knowledgeable guide who can recommend hiking and mountain biking routes. Nearby, you can explore the picturesque village of Baïgorry. Despite being just 50km from the coast, the landscape contrasts between the impressive peaks of the vineyards and Iparla Irouleguy. There are countless hiking trails for all levels, as well as forests and the Iraty Hayri, where you can admire a diverse flora and fauna.
Just 10km away is St. Jean Pied de Port, a popular stop on the St. Jacques de Compostela pilgrimage route. It is also close to colorful and famous Basque villages such as Ainhoa, Espelette, Sare, Itxassou, as well as lesser-known gems like Banca and Urepel. The Spanish border is nearby, offering the opportunity to experience the charm and taste the local cuisine.
For those looking for adventure, there are various sports activities available. In addition to hiking and horseback riding, guests can try rafting, kayaking, and hydrospeed in Bidarray. The Upper Gorge Soule offers thrilling canyoning descents. Air sports such as paragliding, gliding, and hot air ballooning can be enjoyed in Louhossoa, Itxassou, and St. John the Elder, respectively. Directions
To reach Banca Aldudes, proceed through the village until you reach the road of the same name. At the roundabout, choose the Belexi road (also known as Chapelle Oilarandoi). Follow this smaller road for a distance of 2.5 km until you spot a sign on the left indicating the entrance to our home via a private road.
