Appréciations pour Glencairn Inn, Lismore:
A short while ago..
Stayed at this inn after reading Karen Brown's guide. It was called Buggy's then and Mrs. Buggy was welcoming. Mr. Buggy had drawings all over the walls and caught the salmon that we ate that night. Its been awhile since we were there, but I still remember it .
Directions
We are located three and a half hours away from Dublin, which is approximately 140 miles. To reach us from Dublin, follow the signposts for "The South," Limerick, or Cork. Take the N7 and M7 towards Port Laoise, bypassing Kilkenny and Waterford city unless you plan on visiting them. Then, take the turn off for Cork (N8). Look out for the turn off for Cahir in Tipperary, which is about 8 miles past the Cashel bypass. In Cahir, turn right in the center of the town and drive past the castle. Look for the signposts for Clogheen or "The Vee" (R668) and continue following them until you reach Clogheen. From there, continue following the signposts for "The Vee" or Lismore (R668) as this road will take you over the Knockmealdown mountains and into Lismore.
If you are coming from Lismore, take the Tallow road by turning right at the monument after the castle. Just outside Lismore, you will find a Car Sales showroom called Hornibrooks. Take the right turn-off here for Glencairn, and we are just 2 miles from this point, on the right, after a junction.
From Cork Airport, at the roundabout outside the airport, turn left for Cork. Follow the signs towards the Kinsale roundabout, which is approximately 3 miles away. Use the middle lane as you enter the roundabout and take the fourth exit, signposted "N25 (EAST) (N8, N20, N28) Rosslare, Waterford, Dublin." This will lead you east out of the city towards Waterford and our location.
A few miles along the N25, you will encounter the "Jack Lynch" tunnel, which will bring you under the river Lee and onto another roundabout. Use the middle lane initially and take the second exit, signposted "Dublin/Fermoy" (N8). After a few miles, take the exit for Rathcormac and Watergrasshill. At the roundabout, take the second exit for "Watergrasshill" and at the next barely discernible mini-roundabout, turn right and follow the main route through the village. A few miles out of Watergrasshill, you will see large paddocks on your right and a turn off for Tallow/Midleton. Take this road and less than a mile later, there will be a junction. Turn left here, signposted "Tallow" and "Castlelyons." This road will take you to Tallow, passing through the villages of Conna and Curraglass (where there is a Petrol Station). In the middle of Tallow, turn left at the T-junction.
