Nestled between history and legend lies the impressive Mt Viso, also known as the "stone king," standing tall at 3841 meters. This magnificent mountain has captivated travelers throughout the ages. Located in the Marquisate, an Occitan territory, it is surrounded by the Po Valley, the birthplace of Italy's longest river.

The Marquisate is a land scattered with castles, abbeys, and monasteries, where ancient mule tracks and dirt roads were once traversed by monks, merchants, knights, and brigands. The legendary "road of salt" served as a vital route not only for people but also for transporting essential goods such as salt, anchovies, oil, spices, textiles, and various wares.

In this region, you will find the remarkable "Mt Viso hole," a 75-meter long tunnel, situated at an altitude of 2882 meters beneath the Traversette col. This tunnel allowed loaded mules and stooping men to pass through.

Merchants from the Dauphiné, Provence, and Burgundy wandered from farm to farm, crossing the Alps, descending the hills, and arriving in the plain. Many of these travelers found respite in the ancient inn, where Virginia warmly welcomed them with a smile, a hot meal, and the cozy ambiance of a crackling fireplace.

After extensive restoration, the "Virginia" agriturismo has reopened its doors. Step inside and immerse yourself in the rustic and inviting atmosphere of the past, with stone, wood, terracotta, and antique furnishings. The rooms exude warm colors reminiscent of traditional rural houses. Each of our seven rooms is adorned with wooden and wrought-iron beds, wardrobes, and desks, showcasing elements of folk culture. The curtains evoke the rich boiserie found in ancient Occitan mansions.

Our guests are welcome to enjoy the spacious common areas, including a sitting room, breakfast and dining room, and a library with a cozy fireplace, perfect for unwinding and relaxation. In the basement, a generous cellar awaits, offering the opportunity to savor wines and typical products from the Occitan territory.

We offer six double rooms and one triple room, all with private bathrooms. Enjoy a buffet breakfast, and take advantage of amenities such as TV, telephone, fax, and internet access.
