Tauleigne
A Charming Vacation Home

Location

Nestled on the southern side of a mountain, Tauleigne is surrounded by a vast forest spanning hundreds of acres. It boasts a stunning view and is protected from the Mistral winds by nearby cliffs. This picturesque house is situated on the border of Bollène, in the Vaucluse department of the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region. The property's entrance is accessed through the quaint village of Saint-Restitut in Drôme, Rhône-Alpes, which is why the postal address is in Saint-Restitut.

Accessibility

Getting to Tauleigne is a breeze, with easy access from the A7 highway. Simply take the Bollène exit and follow the provided directions for 7 kilometers.

The Property

Covering 32 acres, Tauleigne is surrounded by oak and evergreen oak trees, set on magnificent ledges of rocks and cliffs. The property exudes tranquility and serenity, with the ruins of Château de Chabrière adding a touch of history. Explore the numerous pedestrian paths that wind through the property, offering breathtaking views of the Bollène countryside, the Dentelles de Montmirail, and the iconic Mont Ventoux. The front of the house features a grass garden lined with laurel roses, lavender, snatolines, and rosemary, along with a charming oak wood providing shaded areas. This space is perfect for those seeking peace and quiet or for families allowing their children to enjoy the swimming pool. Adjacent to the house, a restored ruin houses a barbecue area. Enjoy outdoor meals amidst the natural beauty, with the added convenience of outdoor lighting for evening gatherings. The property also offers terraces for playing pétanque, and a cabana near the pool houses pool filters, a washer, a refrigerator, and toilets. The garden and swimming pool are maintained twice a week, with automatic sprinklers ensuring lush greenery.

The House

With a capacity to accommodate 10 to 12 people, Tauleigne is a charming Provençal house built in the early 19th century using regional stones. The stone windowsills, door frames, and ancient Roman tile roof add to its rustic appeal. The facade features two front doors, one leading to the living room and the other to the kitchen.

The first floor comprises three interconnected rooms, each separated by stone walls. Starting with the kitchen and eating area, followed by the living room and dining room, these rooms are beautifully tiled and connected. The kitchen features a historic mantle, and modern amenities include a sink, draining board, four electric burners, an extractor fan, electric oven, dishwasher, chopping block, multiple sockets, and all the necessary equipment for preparing simple or gourmet meals. A table and chairs in the front of the kitchen provide a cozy dining atmosphere. To the right, an ancient stone sink adds a touch of history, seamlessly blending with the living room door.

The central living room boasts well-preserved stone walls and a ceiling made of wooden logs and large planks, creating a charming ambiance. While a wood fireplace adds warmth during colder months, the room also offers comfortable couches and armchairs for reading or enjoying a night in front of the television. A cordless telephone is conveniently located in a piece of furniture, allowing conversations even in the garden.

The dining room features a large table, perfect for gathering all the guests. The stone walls add to the rustic atmosphere.

All three rooms on the first floor are fitted with small windows in the traditional Provençal crossbar style, allowing filtered light to create a cozy ambiance. The shutters can be adjusted to control the amount of natural light and preserve a cool living environment for early risers.

The second floor can be accessed via a staircase leading to a hallway. This hallway leads to two rooms and a bathroom, as well as five interior doors and one exterior door in the old wall.

The first room, located above the living room, is the largest. It features a double bed, two night tables, a dresser with hanging bars and shelves, and ample storage space for luggage. The walls are painted in light colors, typical of the Midi region. Two windows offer stunning views of the garden and swimming pool. This room can accommodate an infant's bed upon request and also has a telephone jack.

The second door in the hallway provides access to a closet, which is not accessible to tenants.

The exterior door in the old wall functions as a window, allowing a bit of light and air. The window on the door can be opened, but the door itself cannot.

The third door leads to the bathroom, adorned with white tiles featuring orange flower designs. This bathroom offers a sink, a shower/bath with a mixer tap and thermostatic control.

The fourth door leads to the second room, where sunlight streams through a small window, illuminating the double bed between two night tables. The wardrobe is built into the closet.

To the left of the staircase, an ancient door leads to the second hallway, which houses three doors and a staircase.

The first door opens to a toilet.

The second door leads to the second bathroom, featuring vibrant colored tiles. It includes a shower/bath, a sink, and shelving arrangements.

The third door leads to a youthful room equipped with two single beds, one of which has an additional pull-out bed.

The staircase leads to a dormitory on the third floor, nestled under the sloping attic roof. A wardrobe divides the space, with two beds on each side. Two of these beds also offer pull-out options, allowing the dormitory to accommodate up to six people.

All rooms on the second and third floors, excluding the bathrooms and toilets, feature polished and finished pine wood plank flooring.
