Description for B&B:
Located at the junction of the Yonne river and the Canal du Nivernais, the village of Mailly-la-Ville offers a unique setting for boating, canoeing, fishing, swimming, or leisurely walks. The river and canal are major attractions for tourists, especially since the village is adjacent to the picturesque "Les Coûtas" hills, which were once covered in vineyards but disappeared in the early 20th century. These hills provide stunning panoramic views from the village paths.Perched above one of the locks of the Canal du Nivernais, there are three guest rooms available on the first floor of a 17th-century building, separate from the owners' residence. On the ground floor, a relaxation area awaits you, complete with a fully equipped kitchen where you can choose to dine or prepare your own meals. Additionally, there is access to a shared inner courtyard.
With a total capacity of 8 people, it is possible to reserve all three bedrooms and transform them into guest houses. The guest rooms, known as "Les Coûtas," are open year-round.
One of the guest rooms, called the "Chambre du Père Leleu," accommodates up to 4 people and offers a privileged view of the Canal du Nivernais and the Yonne River. This family suite is named in honor of a local figure, Father Leleu. Father Leleu, a former Communard, settled in the nearby commune of Saint-Moré in 1887. He lived in a cave overlooking the Cure, Roche Percee, where he discovered numerous prehistoric artifacts. Father Leleu showcased his troglodyte lifestyle, inviting visitors to explore his "apartments" and see live vipers. In 1913, his body was found inside his cave, leaving behind a mystery that has become a local legend. During your stay, you have the opportunity to follow in the footsteps of Father Leleu.
The family suite consists of two rooms with one double bed and two bunk beds, along with a private bathroom and a separate toilet. A conversion option is available for children under 6 years old. The double bed measures 140 cm, while the single bunk beds measure 90 cm. The bedroom is equipped with two desks and two storage cabinets, and there is electric heating throughout. The shower room includes a shower, washbasin, heated towel rail, and a hairdryer.
