Description for Gite
Welcome to Mas de la Gache, a charming farmhouse dating back to the early 17th century. Over the past 12 years, we, Esmé, Eddie, Julia, and Lucie, have dedicated ourselves to restoring this historic property and giving it a new lease on life. In addition to our small-scale farming, we have also built a beautiful holiday apartment, which will be available for rent starting this summer. Our "Mas" is nestled peacefully outside the village, just a 15-minute walk away, and is separated from it by the picturesque Cèze river. This idyllic location allows us to create our little piece of paradise, free from traffic noise, streetlights, bustling resorts, and nosy neighbors. Here, you will find tranquility, starry nights, the soothing sounds of birds and nature, and the delightful ambiance of a working farm with fresh eggs and homegrown tomatoes. Plus, the pleasant climate throughout most of the year adds to the overall appeal. In short, our place is perfect for rest and relaxation, providing an ideal setting for long siestas in the shade by the riverside, leisurely breakfasts, and delicious dinners made from local produce.
For a reasonable price, you can experience the best of the deep south of France at Mas de la Gache. The most important aspect for us is the spaciousness and serenity surrounding our farmhouse, something we deeply appreciate and hope you will enjoy during your stay. Picture yourself waking up in the morning, sipping a cup of coffee while listening to the birds and the gentle flow of the river. Life here in the south is meant to be lived outdoors, but that hasn't stopped us from creating an 80 m2 apartment on the first floor of one of our barns. With a rooftop terrace overlooking the courtyard, two double (or triple) bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms, and a spacious open-plan living area and kitchen, the apartment combines traditional building style with modern comforts to provide a cool and inviting space during the warm summer days.
Inside, you will find all the amenities you need for a comfortable stay, including a well-equipped kitchen, television, a cozy wood stove, and heated bathrooms. Outside, there is plenty of space to play, take leisurely walks, or simply relax and unwind.
Goudargues, a charming village with a population of around 1000 inhabitants, is located nearby. Steeped in history that dates back several centuries, traces of its past can still be seen in and around the village. Situated in the Cèze valley, Goudargues is often referred to as the "Venice of the Gard" due to its network of canals that wind through the village center. This area is known for its eco-tourism, and Goudargues serves as the hub for all commerce in the region. Here, you will find bakeries, a butcher, hairdressers, beauty salons, a village supermarket, numerous bars and restaurants, a post office, a tourist information center, and various specialty shops. These establishments contribute to the vibrant atmosphere of Goudargues, setting it apart from other beautiful yet lifeless villages.
Despite its popularity among day visitors, Goudargues retains a laid-back and easy-going vibe, where you can take your time to enjoy a cold beer or a refreshing pastis on one of the terraces along the canals, shaded by the magnificent 200-year-old plane trees.
Come and experience the beauty, tranquility, and authentic charm of Mas de la Gache and its surroundings. We look forward to welcoming you to our little slice of heaven in the south of France.
