The surrounding countryside offers an extensive network of footpaths, ideal for walking, running, cycling, bird-watching, photography, drawing, and painting. The town sits on the scenic river Scorff, close to the ancient Fôret de Quenecan. Guémené-sur-Scorff holds a special place in history as the former seat of the Dukes of Rohan, and its ancient buildings and Brittany's oldest tavern, Les Trois Marchands, are worth exploring. Pontivy, a larger historic city, is just a 20-minute drive away and sits on the Nantes-Brest Canal. The renovated towpaths of the canal offer beautiful walking and cycling routes. Nearby cities/towns of interest include Vannes, Josselin, Pont-Aven, Concarneau, Quimper, and Carnac. For beach lovers, the stunning lake resorts of Priziac, Langoelan, and Lac Guerledan provide safe swimming, water sports, and sandy shores.
