It served as a transportation hub for Cahors wine barrels, which were ferried down the Lot River to Bordeaux for export. The region boasts over 300 fortified Bastide towns in the Lot and Dordogne, many of which were constructed during the reigns of various English kings when this area belonged to the English crown.

Directions
To locate Maison Delmas in the village, starting from the bridge over the river into Puy l'Eveque, you will find us 50 meters on the left. The entrance to the courtyard is adjacent to the bread shop.
If you are coming from the main part of the town, head towards the main square where the Maire is located. From there, follow the road down through the main town and take the second right at the roundabout. Continue along the road until you reach the bread shop, then turn right and pass through the gates.
